Galaxy Tab S2: Samsung's Thinnest Tablets

Samsung has officially unveiled its lightest and thinnest tablets yet - the Galaxy Tab S2 series. Coming in two sizes, both the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 only measure 5.6 mm thin. The former weighs 389 grams while the latter weighs only 265 grams. Both Galaxy Tab S2 tablets only differ in dimensions and screen size and are very similar elsewhere.

A Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet, regardless of screen size, comes with a Super AMOLED display of 1,536 x 2,048 pixel resolution. Ticking inside it is a 64-bit octa-core Exynos chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of expandable internal storage. There is an 8-MP primary camera with auto-focus at the back and a 2.1-MP front-facing snapper for selfies and video calls. Connectivity-wise, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.1 BLE, and LTE (in select models) are supported. A touch-enabled fingerprint scanner is also built into the home button. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with the TouchWiz UI on top. A 4,000 mAh battery will keep its lights on.

Like many tablets, the Galaxy Tab S2 will be offered in LTE and Wi-Fi only models. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
