Acer Announces Liquid Z220, Z520 & Jade Z Smartphones

Acer announced three new Z-series smartphones to its arsenal of Android devices. These include the Liquid Z220, Liquid Z520, and the Liquid Jade Z. The first two are entry level smartphones while the latter is more of a midrange offering. The Acer Liquid Z220 is the most affordable of the three. It packs a 4-inch display of WVGA (480 x 800) resolution resulting in a pixel density of 233 ppi. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset paired with 1GB RAM. It also comes with a 5-MP rear camera and a 2-MP front camera.

Meanwhile, the Acer Liquid Z520 looks essentially the same as the Liquid Z220 but with bumped up specs. It also offer the same 4-inch WVGA (480x800) display with a pixel density of 233 ppi. It is also powered the by the frugal Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM. Imaging-wise, it has a higher 8-MP rear camera and a 2-MP front-facing unit. In addition, it is equipped with DTS Studio Sound speakers.

The better spec'd among the three new Acer offerings is the Liquid Jade Z, which is an LTE-ready smartphone. It packs a 5-inch screen of 720p HD resolution. It also comes with a 64-bit MediaTek chipset, a 13-MP main camera, and a 5-MP front-facing unit. It is pretty svelte at just 7.9 mm and weighs just 110 grams. Its display is of the Zero Air Gap kind and fully covered in curved Gorilla Glass 3.

The Acer Liquid Z220 and Liquid Jade Z will be sold in Europe starting March, with prices reaching €89 for the former and €199 for the latter. The Acer Liquid Z520 will launch in April, priced at €109.
